High Plains Raceway USR Approved

This morning, the Arapahoe County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to approve CAMA's USR (Use By Special Review) application for High Plains Raceway!!

After a glowing recommendation from the County Planning Staff (with praise for the quality of the application and the level of response they received during the process), and a public comment session including a number of statements from community leaders in support of the track, the Commissioners voted 5 to 0 to approve the application. Needless to say, this is a major step in the process to proceed with the project. Closing on the land is scheduled for January 31st.

In all, the entitlement process for High Plains Raceway has taken just over 18 months, and Bill Howard of RMVR provided the substantial expertise, considerable time and consistent effort required to deliver this result. Bill has worked unselfishly since CAMA's initial efforts in 2004, and has contributed many hundreds (thousands?) of hours to get us this victory. His efforts have been totally pro bono. RMVR and the entire Colorado racing community are deeply indebted to Bill. Three cheers and a resounding THANK YOU to Bill Howard! High Plains Raceway has just taken a giant step toward becoming a reality!

Bob Darcey
RMVR CAMA Representative
